On July 9, 2023, [[Daniel Larson|Daniel]] '''adopted a dog''' from the [https://www.longmonthumane.org Longmont Humane Society], an animal adoption center, in Longmont, Colorado. Afterward, he would name the animal Music, formerly Zola. Daniel's motivation for adopting this dog was his want, and furthermore, [[Delusions|delusion]], for "security." He repeatedly claimed that Music was a "guard dog", despite Zola being regular house pet with no such capabilities.   

Daniel's announcement of the adoption sparked intense outrage in the [[R/Daniellarson|subreddit dedicated to him,]] and other adjacent communities. There was significant controversy, with many questioning if it was justified to take a [[Homeless Era|homeless]] man’s dog, as well as its legality.  

Many demanded the dog to be returned to the shelter due to factors such as Daniel's inability to financially support himself, a lack of a constant food source or shelter, his various [[Daniel and Mental Health|mental illnesses]], and the general negligence he continues to exhibit. Even worse, there were fears that [[December 10th Incident|Daniel's violent tendencies]] towards people (as well as property) made Music a potential target in Daniel's next [[Meltdowns|meltdown.]]   

Not long after Daniel adopted Music, several rescue missions were carried out, one of which by Daniels past manager, [[Ox]]. The most notable one was carried out by former YouTuber [[Goated Mines]]. Him, and a group called [[Ceel Team 6]], which consisted of him, [[Flexburger]], moderators of r/daniellarson, and others, would work to save Music. On July 11th, just two days after the start of the arc, WeenWeenMusic, a member of [[Ceel Team 6]], successfully managed to rescue Music from Daniel, making this the shortest [[Chronology|arc]] in Daniel Larson history, lasting for barely two days.     

Following the dogs rescue, Daniel had a [[The 7/11 Incident|meltdown inside of a Walmart]] in which he destroyed multiple stands of merchandise and attempted to hijack a bus full of senior citizens, before eventually being apprehended by authorities. After being released from police custody, Daniel made bomb threats against the White House ([[Second Jail Arc|which he would later be charged for]]) and was promptly admitted into a [[Psychiatric Hospital|psychiatric ward]], where he would stay for the next week.       

Many weeks before the adoption occurred, Daniel expressed his desire to adopt a dog and several other pets. Many considered the odds of Daniel ever adopting any sort of animal to be very slim, given his inability to properly care for himself, and his [[Homeless Era|homelessness]], which would make adoption highly unlikely. On many occasions, he has said that he has security and a team of people dedicated to protecting him. Daniel wanting to adopt a dog to protect him aligned with these delusions. Warren most likely advised Daniel to keep his location a secret. This can be inferred from the amount of times Daniel was found lying about his location to evade detection, such as lying about purchasing motel rooms. And during this time, Daniel still had access to [[Cameo Arc|Cameo]], a video making service where he would be given money to make custom videos for those who requested them. Before his eventual banning, Daniel stated that he had make over $5,000 while using it.<ref>[[Cameo Arc#Pricing]]</ref> This provided him sufficient funds to adopt a dog.

On July 9th, 2023, Daniel adopted Music, formerly named Zola, a German Shepard mix, from the Longmont Humane Society, an animal shelter in Longmont, Colorado. The duration of Daniel's stay in Longmont remains unclear. Though, after an AMA from an employee at the humane society, it was confirmed that Daniel came to the shelter alone.<ref>[[Longmont Humane Society Employee AMA]]</ref> His justification for getting a dog was for Music to act as security, more specifically as a "guard dog." While Daniel was allowed to adopt Music and leave the shelter with her, both workers and bystanders were concerned about Daniel getting a dog, but nobody took action to prevent it.

There was an attempt by Humane Society employees to slow down the adoption process, but they ultimately allowed Daniel to take Music with him. In a future [[Longmont Humane Society Employee AMA|Reddit AMA]] published by a worker at the Longmont Humane Society, they admit that the animal shelter did not conduct any sort of background check on Daniel. But after being informed of who Daniel was, the workers were horrified. Though, even with this information, they still expressed disgust with the way people treated the workers and Longmont Humane Society as a whole. The employee went on to claim that the adoption center now had to deal with several alleged emergency service calls which resulted in first responders showing up due to swatting attempts, or false bomb threats.

Although the shelter did not allow homeless individuals to adopt, Daniel lied on his application by claiming he lived in an RV, which allowed him to adopt Music. Initially, Daniel did not post about Music at all. While the video was still up, Daniel was seated at a Jimmy John's, where Keith is seen discussing with Daniel about his new "guard dog" while taunting [[World of T-Shirts|Joshua Block]]. Following this interaction, Daniel would start posting videos of Music, most notably one where he coaxed her into looking at camera, only for her to ignore him.<ref>https://archive.org/details/ifCZx1vB6Bk</ref> This revelation immediately sparked shock in communities surrounding him when they came to the shocking realization that this was not someone else's dog, but a dog he had adopted himself.

In the meantime, other people who were out of state or unable to reach Daniel made efforts to spread awareness of the situation. YouTubers such as [[Goated Mines]] and [[Content Creators#SmokeyMcC|SmokeyMcc]], who made videos explaining the situation, while members of the community made Facebook posts trying to spread the word and increase the chances in locating Music.     

 

 

After the stream ended, Goated Mines would reach out to Expo Productions, asking if they knew where Daniel was, as well as expressing concern for the safety of Music. He was informed that Daniel was last seen at Union Station, and that the police were contacted about the situation. However, the validity of this claim is unclear.

Daniel failed to provide adequate food for Music several times. While Daniel claimed to have had a bag of dry food for her, a likely truth since the Humane Society typically provides food for adopted animals, he also claimed that Music refused to eat it. In every video of Music that Daniel had posted, she was seen audibly whimpering with her ears down, visibly stressed. This distress was evident as Music seemed consistently anxious and unsettled. The only other 'food' Daniel claimed to get Music was a, "puppacino," which is a small cup of whipped cream.

On July 10, a group calling themselves, "'''[[Ceel Team 6]]"''', would track down and save Music. Notable members of this group included Goated Mines, WeenWeenMusic, SlimJiMorrison, and [[Flexburger]]. 

 

Soon after the rescue, Ween started a voice call in the Ceel Team 6 Discord server. where it was revealed that Music had Giardia, a parasite that passes through stool.<ref>https://archive.org/details/goated-mines-daniel-larson-vids-reuploaded (sometime around 2:02:16)</ref> Soon after the call, Goated Mines posted an image of Music on Reddit with the caption, "MUSIC IS SAFE."<ref>https://www.reddit.com/r/Daniellarson/comments/14ww7cu/music_is_safe/</ref> After requests for more proof, she later posted a video of Music.<ref>https://www.reddit.com/r/Daniellarson/comments/14wx26n/music_rescued_more_proof/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3</ref>  

 

Ween herself soon posted an update to Reddit explaining what they would do with any donations that were sent their way as well as some more photos of Music.

Thankfully, Daniel never did try to get Zola back into his posession.  

Daniel's intense reaction to Music being taken led to Daniel having a violent outburst. In a bizarre sequence, he entered a Walmart and began destroying several stands of merchandise, and even attempted to hijack a bus full of senior citizens. This prompted customers to restrain him until the police arrived. Afterwards, Daniel was taken into police custody and questioned about his actions. It is assumed that he did not face any charges during this initial arrest.  

Many refer to this as the '''July 11th incident''' or the '''7/11 incident.''' This incident was originally lost media, as it was one of the very rare incidents that was not recorded by either Daniel or bystanders, but has since been recovered via police bodycam footage.

Daniel's last video for the night, and the entire week, was a live stream where he filmed himself talking with EMTs about how his “popularity was out of control,” and that he feared for his life. He explained multiple times that the reason for his behavior and multiple 9-1-1 calls (that he made bomb threats to) was to have his story heard.
