{{main|Second Jail Arc}}

On April 30, 2024, Daniel would be arrested due to the many threats he had made towards businesses, family members, and most notably, [[Daniel MacDougall|government entities and agencies.]] Daniel would be charged with 7 counts of threats, each of these being federal charges. Given the severity of the charges, he may be put in prison for a long time, possibly several decades. During this time, Daniel's manager, [[Clark]], would admit to lying about who he was, and everything he had done up to this point. Even more, Bob was found to have been in contact with Daniel once more.

Daniel would be ordered to have a mental health evaluation multiple times, as the judge believed he was not competent to stand trial. On May 31, Daniel was transferred to the Englewood Federal Correction Institution. On July 19, a psychiatric report was filed. In this report, it was revealed that Daniel would be being institutionalized following being found incompetent for trial once more, as well as an attempt for further evaluation. Daniel was transferred out of Englewood on December 10, 2024. He was in Oklahoma for over two weeks on his way to MCFP Springfield for his mental health evaluation and competency restoration on December 27. He had multiple evaluations and each time was declared incompetent to stand trial. He has returned to FCI Englewood on January 16, 2026.

However, on March 3, 2026, '''Daniel would finally be declared competent for trial.''' After 20 months of institutionalization and competency restoration efforts, Daniel was finally in a state where he was able to stand trial. However, a psychiatrist argued that Daniel may never have his competency fully restored due to deficits from his autism and other mental illnesses. Daniel's mental health was documented extensively, also. Most notably, psychiatrist Dr. Katlyn Hanson indicated that Daniel's erratic behavior was a result of continuous self harm, resulting in a traumatic brain injury (TBI).
However, on March 3, 2026, '''Daniel would finally be declared competent for trial.''' After 20 months of institutionalization and competency restoration efforts, Daniel was finally in a state where he was able to stand trial. Most notably, psychiatrist Dr. Katlyn Hanson indicated that Daniel's erratic behavior was a result of continuous self harm, resulting in a traumatic brain injury (TBI). Met with this information, Daniel, likely advised by his defense team to take a plea deal due to the strong case against him, took such on March 20, 2026.

As part of a plea deal, six of the charges were dropped. Daniel plead guilty to the remaining charge. Many have seen this as the official ending of the Daniel Larson saga.
As part of said plea deal, six of the charges were dropped, and Daniel pleaded guilty to the remaining charge, which was related to him threatening Daniel MacDougall. Per the terms of the plea agreement, he is expected to serve a sentence of 27 to 33 months in prison, with credit for the 23 months he served prior to the hearing. It also includes a fine ranging from $10,000 to $95,000 and one to three years of supervised release, all subject to conditions. His ultimate sentencing will be done on July 21, 2026. While the ultimate details will only be decided then, general speculation can deduce that Daniel would serve anywhere from 4 to 10 months in prison from July 2026 onwards (meaning a release of November 2026 to June 2027), and a general supervised release period lasting anywhere from 2027 to 2030. His fine would likely be paid by his trust fund as-managed by Nancy Shimer's estate. Until then, Larstory is up in the air, and for the current conditions Daniel finds himself in, one can't help but feel that the story of Daniel Larson seems to be told for good.
