| issue = Do NOT attempt to contact anyone involved in the investigation against Daniel OR contact Daniel while he is in custody. Individuals associated with Daniel, notably Management, have been investigated by law enforcement due to their involvement with Daniel. Furthermore, letters that are sent to Daniel will be read and logged by the federal authorities. And finally, due to the continued habit of people interfering with Daniel's court proceedings, we have received even less information about Daniel and his status. Bear this in mind and keep yourself safe.

On April 30, 2024, Daniel Larson was arrested and taken into custody at the Jefferson County Detention Facility. At the time of his arrest, the charges against him were undisclosed, with the listed reason being "courtesy housing for another agency." The following day, Daniel was transferred to the Clear Creek County Jail, where his mugshot was taken shortly after.

It was initially believed that Daniel's arrest was related to multiple probation violations, as in the days leading up to his arrest, Daniel defrauded a Buffalo Wild Wings, and admitted to viewing exploitive material of children. However, according to a subsequent call made to his manager, Clark, Daniel was arrested for several terroristic threats he had made over the past year at the time. These claims were later backed by documents that revealed that Daniel had been charged with seven counts of uttering threats, with a potential maximum sentence of 65 years if convicted on all counts.

This was the fifth time Daniel had been arrested in 2024 alone, with the most recent occurring just four weeks earlier. Unlike previous arrests, Daniel is ineligible for bond, and given the severity of the charges, there is a possibility he will never be granted bond.

At the time of Daniel's arrest, it was believed that his manager, Clark, had been apprehended by authorities at his job due to his association with Daniel over the previous 10 months. However, it was soon revealed that Clark and members of Daniel's management were investigated by authorities who sought information about threats Daniel had made. Afterward, Clark officially resigned from being Daniel's manager and admitted to lying about his entire existence to him. This aforementioned call was speculated to have been the last contact Daniel had with the outside world, but this would soon be proven false, as Clark continued to communicate with him months later.

Following this, Daniel's contact with the outside world was through sporadic phone correspondence, which was suspended for nearly four months until September. During this time, Daniel befriended Lil Sippy over the phone after he sent him a letter. He was in contact with Lil Sippy and Clark while in FCI Englewood through phone calls, emails, and letters. During his two brief stays at two correctional facilities in Oklahoma, he was in touch with Clark via phone calls. However, since his transfer to MCFP Springfield in late December 2024, communications have been strictly through letters, although it appears that all communications have ceased permanently.

On May 31, 2024, Daniel was transferred to Englewood Federal Correctional Institution. He was held in a mental health facility for evaluation and was ordered to be institutionalized on July 19 after being found incompetent to stand trial.

He was held in a mental health facility for evaluation and was ordered to be institutionalized on July 19 after being found incompetent to stand trial.

On December 6, 2024, Daniel informed Lil Sippy that he was scheduled to be transferred to the United States Medical Center for Federal Prisoners (MCFP Springfield) in the following week. He was released from Englewood four days later and was transferred to Cimarron Correctional Facility in Oklahoma, where he stayed for two weeks. On Christmas Eve, he was transferred to Grady County Detention Center for unknown reasons, and three days later was transferred to MCFP Springfield for further mental health evaluation. Daniel underwent several competency restoration and mental health evaluation processes since his incarceration at MCFP Springfield, and stayed there throughout 2025. The most recent one concluded in November 2025.

On January 13, 2026, Daniel was transferred out of MCFP Springfield and placed in the Federal Transfer Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Three days later, he was returned to FCI Englewood. He had a court hearings on January 22 and February 3, 2026 on his competency, which will be ruled soon. Three days later, he was returned to FCI Englewood. He had court hearings on January 22 and February 3, 2026 on his competency. Speedy trial calculations ended on February 9, 2026, and on March 3, 2026, Daniel was deemed competent to stand trial. It remains uncertain whether Daniel will continue to be institutionalized or be released. On March 20, 2026, Daniel reached a plea agreement with the government, and a change of plea hearing was held on April 9, 2026. Daniel pled guilty to the threat he made toward Daniel MacDougall. The remaining six charges were dropped. He is expected to serve 27-33 months in prison, with credit for the 23 months he had already served. Sentencing will occur on July 21, 2026.

This is one of the most significant events in Daniel's life, considering that he is currently at risk of being imprisoned for up to 65 years if found guilty on all charges, or possibly see himself institutionalized for the rest of his life. Many see this as the final blow, with his plot armor truly breaking. It has also become the most publicized aspect of Daniel's life thus far, as multiple social media accounts and news articles have covered the situation as it unfolded. The Second Jail Arc is the longest duration of Daniel being incarcerated.

The Charges
Daniel is currently facing serious legal charges. Initially, he was facing six counts of "Use or Threatened Use of Explosive" and one count of "Interstate Communication of Threats." Each "Use or Threatened Use of Explosive," charge carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in federal prison. The "Interstate Communication of Threats" charge could add an additional five years. Based on all seven charges, the maximum jail time that Daniel could face was 65 years in prison. === Acquisition of New Attorney ===
On April 10, 2025, Daniel was assigned a new attorney, Jeffrey Feiler, who officially filed a Notice of Attorney Appearance to represent Daniel in all future legal proceedings. Feiler is an attorney who has experience dealing with mentally ill and online-infamous clientele. The acquisition of Feiler is likely because Daniel was proven competent to stand trial.

Feiler is an attorney who has experience dealing with mentally ill and online-infamous clientele. Feiler is very infamous in his own right, as he is most known for being the lawyer of Enrique Tarrio, the leader of the Proud Boys extremist group. The acquisition of Feiler is likely because Daniel was proven competent to stand trial.

Another hearing occurred on February 3, 2026, during which Dr. Mark Mills, another forensic psychiatrist, testified. Judge Regina M. Additional witnesses were to testify for the hearing, however after the February 3 hearing, the hearing was concluded and these witnesses did not provide testimony. The witnesses were Bob Proctor; Greg Suarez, CEO of Golden Fiduciary and trustee for Nancy Shimer's trust; Mandi Doryland, a Highlands Ranch based counselor who likely previously worked with Daniel; Ian Thomson, CEO of Daniel's caretaker company and former case manager; Jodie Marquez, operations director for Roundup Fellowship and an additional case manager; Alicia Cho, a psychiatric expert; and Tiffany Montano, Daniel's former therapist.

March 2026 Competency Ruling & New Attorney
On March 3, 2026, a month after the hearing, Judge Regina M. Rodriguez ruled that Daniel was mentally competent to stand trial following 20 months (1 year and 8 months) of institutionalization and competency restoration efforts. Daniel disputed that his competency had been restored. The case was finally set to proceed to trial, which was scheduled for April 20, 2026. He had a hearing on April 9, 2026.

Dr. Katlyn Hanson diagnosed Daniel with Level 1 autism spectrum disorder, an unspecified schizophrenia spectrum and other psychotic disorder. She reported that although Daniel demonstrated an understanding of the charges against him and the potential consequences, he tended to minimize the seriousness of the allegations and she was concerned about his ability to assist his attorney in his defense. When Daniel arrived to MCFP Springfield in December 2024, he remained grounded in his beliefs that he was dating Grace, and would even constantly talk about him and Grace with staff at Springfield and his defense. Dr. Katlyn Hanson stated that this delusional beliefs were strengthened by the trolls who interacted with him during his stay in jail, claiming that he received prison mail at Springfield containing screenshots of text messages between him and fake Graces. By February 2025, Daniel began taking antipsychotic medication, which reduced his delusions, and soon enough, he finally acknowledged that Grace had nothing to do with his case.

Dr. Mark Mills testified that Daniel could not be fully restored to competency because his cognitive deficits come from both his autism and borderline intellectual functioning, which are considered untreatable. While his delusions improved with the antipsychotic medication and structured treatment at Springfield, Dr. Mills emphasized that Daniel's autism was the controlling diagnosis, preventing him from fully understanding or interacting with his defense team, or recalling information about the threats he made at the time. Dr. Mills also further noted that although Daniel preferred to be found competent and go to trial, his preference likely reflected his cognitive limitations and tendency to agree rather than a fully informed understanding of the legal proceedings, and that he would be unlikely to recall or explain his mental state at the time he allegedly made the threats.

Daniel's mental health history was also documented extensively. The document indicated that he had been hitting himself and punching holes in walls since at least 2011, and that he had been hospitalized twice for these behaviors, once in 2017 and again in 2023. Daniel was also reported to have hit his head in FCI Englewood out of frustration. In 2011, Daniel's mother shared that he had a "non-accidental head injury" at three weeks old and had a seizure at five months. Daniel has also claimed that his mother hit him in the head with a hammer when he was eight years old, though the accuracy of this claim is uncertain. His IQ was reported to be 72, which is slightly above the typical threshold for an intellectual disability.

Daniel no longer qualifies for a free attorney, and his previous attorney, Jared Westbroek, withdrew from the case. Daniel was subsequently reassigned to Jeffrey Feiler, who had represented him the previous year.<gallery caption="Gallery">

Plea Agreement and Hearing
On March 20, 2026, Daniel reached a plea agreement with the government. As a result, the case is not expected to go to trial. Under the agreement, he is expected to face a sentence of 27 to 33 months in prison, with credit for the 23 months already served. The deal also includes a fine ranging from $10,000 to $95,000 and one to three years of supervised release, subject to conditions.

Daniel had a change of plea hearing on April 9, 2026. Daniel plead guilty to the charge involving MacDougall, and he will be sentenced on July 21, 2026. The remaining six charges against him were dismissed as part of the agreement. Daniel also consented to the disposal of his phone, which had been held as evidence. Chad Oxman is Daniel's new legal guardian.

During the proceedings, Judge Regina M. Rodriguez reviewed the legal process in detail to ensure Daniel understood, to which he repeatedly responded with "yes, your honor". Judge Rodriguez asked standard biographical questions, including his name, age, and educational background. Daniel stated that he had completed "high school and some college," with his field of study as "music." When asked where he attended school, he responded, "uh… UC… LA Film School," referencing the fake UCLA classes.

Daniel was reported as being more on edge during this hearing. Approximately ten fans/trolls were present in the gallery, including a few CU fraternity members dressed in suits. Observers claimed that Daniel did the angry tongue as he took his seat. It was also reported that Chad Oxman was confused about the number of people in the gallery. Daniel joked about his fame and referenced his music on iHeartRadio. His attorney, Jeffrey Feiler, appeared to be annoyed. The two attempted to help Daniel remain calm and comfortable, and he appeared to lighten the mood, making a remark about "Diet Coke served for lunch," and added that he asked a guard whether it contained cocaine, which was followed by a laugh. Daniel was described as having a slightly grown-out buzz cut and long fingernails, and was noted to have gained a considerable amount of weight.
