This incident was one of few where a bystander had not recorded the incident, nor did any direct or indirect witnesses, making it lost media until it was recovered via police bodycam footage on the 28th of February 2024. Even more, Daniel, who is known to compulsively lie, surprisingly was somewhat truthful about the whole incident. Much of what Daniel had stated in a phone call after the incident had been proven to be true in the bodycam footage, including him being restrained, destruction of property, and the lottery machine being broken.

One portion that Daniel however did not state in the phone call is the leash. According to a woman working nearby, Daniel had swung a leash that he had bought for Zola at a nearby PetSmart and had a front window of a bus carrying senior citizens, causing it to crack.
