In a Discord interview in April 2023 regarding the incident, he claimed to have been in an unfamiliar area while having a dead phone. Without access to an electrical outlet, he was told to knock on homes in the area, "door-to-door," until he found an "abandoned" house with an electrical outlet. Daniel claimed to have sat on the porch to charge his phone and then find directions. The owner arrived, to where Daniel felt threatened enough to begin filming. When attempting to leave, he encountered resistance from the homeowner. When questioned about his use of the "[[The N Word|Tactical Slur]]" by the interviewers, Daniel explained that he initially attempted silence, then tried talking over the person, resorting to the word as a last resort to silence them.
