Daniel was brought up in an unstable household to say the least. Before he was even a teenager, [[Travis Larson|his father]] had disowned him and left [[Elisabeth Shimer|his mother]], with his mother's health continuously declining due to debilitating lupus. This left him in the care of his grandmother, [[Nancy Shimer]], as well as the [[Tennyson Center|Tennyson Center for Children]]. | |||
Nancy was, unfortunately, an [[Enablers|enabler]] for Daniel's bad behavior. When he would act up (or have violent episodes), Nancy would seldom put down binding consequences, and would instead give Daniel what he wanted or would give him candy to appease him and get him to calm down. | |||
