Choose an article's '''Timeline''' tab, then '''Add event'''. Enter a title and description, and use the year, month, and day fields for as much of the date as you know. Leave all three blank for an unknown date. The description has a compact visual editor with bold, italic, links, and lists. Use the toolbar or the usual keyboard shortcuts; no wiki markup is needed. Advanced editors can switch to Source. '''Preview''' lets you check the result without saving.

How pages are organized

Format Saved page name
Related page (default) Person/Topic
Incident report (optional) Person/Incidents/Report title
Research notes (optional) Person/Research/Topic

The directory finds related pages automatically. Each subpage links back to its profile. Categories are added from the page's location. Use the normal Move tool to rename a page or change its location; the directory follows its new name.

Add another profile

Open Create a page, choose Person profile, enter the person's name, and choose Start editing. The starter adds [[Category:Profiles]] for you. This enables the profile's Related pages tool. The main page is a directory and cannot be a profile.

Timelines

A profile's timeline remains at Person/Timeline. Timelines are separate from the related-page directory. Related pages can have their own timelines too. The main page cannot have a timeline.

Choose an article's Timeline tab, then Add event. Preview lets you check the result without saving.

Use Add another source to attach multiple source links to the same event (up to 20). Each link can be removed separately, and duplicate links are removed automatically. Existing single-source events keep their links when edited.

Choose Edit beside an event to update it. More contains Move to trash; Undo brings it back immediately, and the Trash view lets you restore it later. Confirmed editors can edit and restore events. Administrators manage event locks. Use the search and order controls to find events in longer timelines.
