When looking at Chance for the first time, your natural instinct might be to feel sorry for him because of his abnormal [[Health and Appearance|appearance]], and Chance is not only aware of this but also uses it to his advantage to garner sympathy from onlookers and to (hopefully) deter the trolls away from him. "Don't judge a book by its cover" is the quote that's often used to describe people with similarly abnormal appearances, but it's often used towards people who are much more kinder and "beautiful" on the inside, however—Chance—is a text book example of the cover definitely matching the book, as his personality is ''just'' as ugly as him.
