Lying
Lying is currently under construction! This article will be unpolished, and/or missing information. |
There are two guarantees whenever Chance opens his mouth: a lie or a projection. For this article we'll focus more on the former.
If you've watched almost any piece of media that Chance is featured in, there's a very good likelihood that he'd have lied in it, whether it’d be to save face, or because it's the most convenient for him to make.
Sometimes it's difficult to ascertain whenever Chance is lying or is merely being his delusional self that we've all grown to hate. There's also an issue as to whether he repeats his lies because he genuinely believes them, because he wants the audience to believe them, or because he wants himself to believe them, as it's often said; "It's not a lie if you believe it." therefore—it's very possible that he would be repeating these falsehoods just to break through his own psychological barrier and believe the lie through repetition.
Origins
It's unclear when Chance's habit of lying began, or when it started to increase more and more past the point of no return, while there are some traits that have remained consistent throughout his life (like his slow-learning), the same can't be said about his lying habits. He most likely picked up his habits of lying from Sally, in much the same way he picked up on her methods of ignoring problems (that being 'if you ignore the problem, it goes away'). Another possible reason is Sally unintentionally making him think that his lies worked by just believing whatever he says.
As was stated before, Chance's delusions are often so strong that it's hard to tell when he's lying maliciously or if he genuinely believes what he's saying. This could just be another coping mechanism he learned as a child, that if you just tell yourself that something else happened for long enough, it'll become reality in your head, regardless of any contradicting evidence. One piece of evidence that suggests this is Chance perpetually going out of his way to avoid the trolls confronting his version of events, as it could be construed as him not wanting them to shatter whatever delusion he's concocted in his head about what occurred.
Methodology
Chance is a pathological liar through and through, and there's nothing he wouldn't lie about if he thought it was in his best interest to do so. His lies range from his childhood (such as claiming to be raised by bikers and gangsters), all the way to raping a blind kid in high school. Thankfully however, due to his low intelligence, it's very easy to figure out when he's lying or not. The most considerable factor is context—For example; If he wants to gain the upper hand in a conversation, he will almost always dish out empty threats. Usually followed by "That's not a threat, that's PROMISE!" and other Chance-isms
Chance is a manipulator, so lying is not only second nature to him but also a guarantee during any conversation he has. If a person's story remains relatively consistent, it's a sign that they're telling the truth. Chance will change or even invent new details to fit whatever story he's trying to tell. When he was caught sending nude pictures to who he thought were minors, he was adamant that it was illegal entrapment, before soon enough, stating that was because he was hacked, to then saying that the person said they were 18 years old in the messages, before finally settling on "it was all Photoshop & AI".
Another obvious sign of Chance's deception is his inability to mend stories to actually deceive anyone properly. In other words; It's clear when he's lying because he has no clue how anything works, so anyone with a modicum of life experience can see the gaping plot holes in any narrative he spins. Such as when he claimed that music artists copy other artists' songs 'all the time' without having to necessarily purchase the rights to them.[1]
Manipulation
When looking at Chance for the first time, your natural instinct might be to feel sorry for him because of his abnormal appearance, and Chance is not only aware of this but also uses it to his advantage to garner sympathy from onlookers and to (hopefully) deter the trolls away from him. "Don't judge a book by its cover" is the quote that's often used to describe people with similarly abnormal appearances, but it's often used towards people who are much more kinder and "beautiful" on the inside, however—Chance—is a text book example of the cover definitely matching the book, as his personality is just as ugly as him. It's also unclear whether he makes himself look as unkempt and unhealthy as possible to further fish for sympathy from people, especially when he blames the trolls on the causes of his many conditions like eczema.
While Cyraxx may certainly not be the brightest bulb in the box, he has on the occasion shown to be fairly cunning when trying to manipulate people. For instance, he once attempted to weaponize the trolls against someone by making a video thanking them for making a sizeable donation to him, being aware that donating gifts or money to Cyraxx is a sure-fire way of getting doxxed and harassed by trolls. Thankfully for the target however, trolls saw through Cyraxx's lie and refrained from attacking the person.
Suicide baiting
Cyraxx frequently and disgracefully uses suicide as has a manipulation tool to obtain what he wants. While he used this tactic on a few occasions against trolls, he also more concerningly uses it against Sally to emotionally blackmail her. During a panel dated June 2024, Cyraxx was heard threatening Sally that he would kill himself if she were to move out of Akron without him[2].
During another panel with Marty and Shmeckle Cat, Cyraxx would refer to another 'suicide attempt' he had off-camera, when asked by Shmeckle about the lack of visible cut marks, he would respond "There isn't any because my family stopped me before I could do anything!"
Runaway threats
During arguments with Sally, some of which were caught on audio thanks to Cyraxx neglecting to either pause or mute his livestreams whenever he is called downstairs, Cyraxx has often threatened to pack his things and run away. However, Sally is not moved by such threats, as she is well aware that Cyraxx would never go out in the world on his own, much less survive without her help. This is also another display of Chance's extreme immaturity and arrested development, somehow thinking that running away from the house would still be even a threat as a man in his 30's, or that his departure would be a loss for the household.
Emotional "Breakdowns"
Cyraxx is infamous for his frequent attempts at elliciting sympathy by acting distraught and faking emotional breakdowns on camera. For the most part, these acts of distress are aimed at audiences unfamiliar with his past and reputation, hoping that someone will take pity and fly to his rescue. However, Cyraxx is equally infamous for being a terrible actor; for one, there are no tears present when he's doing this act which brings us to the second issue: he'll often switch from "crying" to angry on a dime, which should tell you pretty easily that it's just poor acting, and further highlights the lengths he'll go to to gain pity. He also constantly flip-flops between dominating the trolls and being utterly crushed by them, further highlighting the contradictions of his delusions.
Cyraxx also uses this tactic as a defense mechanism against stressful situations, such as interactions with trolls or police officers. In this case, his objective is to look as miserable and harmless as possible to appease or garner pity from the target, or make them so uncomfortable with his display of abject misery that they just decide to leave.
Factitious behavior
Cyraxx has a habit of pretending to be sick or injured, or greatly exaggerate the extent of health issues he does have, to pity people into leaving him alone or to fish for sympathy. In 2014, Cyraxx had a freakout while staying the weekend at Gordon's house after his wife, Jenny, refused to take him to the hospital for a pimple on his leg that Cyraxx thought was gangrena. A few years later, Cyraxx accused Jenny of potentially leaving him to die by refusing to take him to the hospital for his leg "infection".
Cyraxx repeateadly attempted to make the trolls feel bad about him by complaining about his leg being infected and causing him excruciating pain, saying that doctors told him that it could fall off if untreated. This is of course complete nonsense, especially so when Cyraxx claims that the cause of his self-diagnosed infection is either stress-induced eczema going septic because of the trolls messing with him online, or lack of movement from being "trapped" in the house due to Cyraxx fearing that trolls will ambush him as soon as he steps outside. While Cyraxx greatly exaggerates how bad his leg feels, unsavory photo evidence show however that it is presenting signs of infection, especially on the foot. Regardless however, Cyraxx's leg infection is most certainly caused by the extremely unsanitary conditions in which he festers, being regularly bitten by pests and refusing to clean himself, or wearing the same clothes for up to a week sometimes. And even if we were to buy his lie that his septic eczema flare-ups are caused by trolls stressing him, he could easily make it better simply by staying off the Internet since it causes him so much pain, but Cyraxx would seemingly rather lose his leg than to stop messing around online.
While some people have theorized that Cyraxx exhibits behaviors consistent with Factitious disorder (also known as the Munchausen syndrome), it is unlikely that he actually has this disorder, as he always feigns illness with clear intent and objectives in mind, as opposed to doing so strictly impulsively.
List of notable lies
Below is a list of lies and half-truths that Cyraxx constantly repeats whenever he thinks he is adressing someone that is not familiar with his reputation, or when he is pandering his delusions.
- Cyraxx was sexually assaulted in high school : In 2022, Cyraxx regularly claimed that he was sexually assaulted by a fellow legally blind classmate nicknamed Blind Billy. Blind Billy came forward on a panel with MusicBizMarty about the story, where he says that it was Cyraxx that sexually assaulted him, a version substantiated by a former classmate, Elspeth. While Billy's side of the story was widely taken as truth due to Cyraxx's reputation as both a pathological liar and a sexual deviant, some felt that Billy was not being fully transparent either. This led to a theory that Cyraxx and Blind Billy decided to experiment that night, but were overcome with shame afterward and thus made up the rape story as a cover-up. Regardless, Cyraxx's story was an obvious lie due to his extremely nonchalant demeanor about such a traumatizing experience, and the incoherences in his narrative (such as claiming that he was removed from high school for his own safety, as opposed to the more logical outcome of expelling Billy, and the fact that Billy's vision was extremely limited, and thus would have found it really difficult to perform sexual acts on Cyraxx in the dark).
- Cyraxx was swatted : This is a half truth; while a troll indeed called the police with a false emergency, Cyraxx greatly exagerates the force of the response. He regularly claims that police responded fully clad with body armor and rifles, and that they held him at gun point for several minutes. However, bodycam footage from the intervention instead shows the officers securing the outside of the house with flashlights, and then telling Chance to come outside to be patted. At no point did the police draw any weapon, nor did they employed force against Cyraxx[3].
- Trolls tried to kill Cyraxx/Cyraxx was shot at : A full blown lie which he will likely stick to until his ultimate demise. Cyraxx here refers to several events in which he believed or was influenced to believe that he was almost murdered by the trolls:
- On September 6th 2021, when a man was arrested in the driveway of 339 Lloyd Street as he was attempting to evade the police[4]. William Gloryhole released the bodycam footage of the intervention, assorted with various comments pretending that the man was a hired assasin sent to kill Cyraxx. Naturally, Cyraxx fully believed it and used this unrelated arrest at his doorstep as proof that trolls were putting his life in danger.
- On January 28th 2022, a drive-by shooting occured down the street from 339, critically injuring a young boy[5]. After going out to gawk at the crime scene, Cyraxx made a tearful video saying that those bullets were likely meant for him and blamed the trolls for the shooting, further encouraged by Sally who also believed that trolls were involved.
- On November 3rd 2022, Cyraxx was startled by a loud noise in his room during a livestream[6]. Shortly after, he would start acting as if the noise was the sound of a bullet impact, accusing MusicBizMarty of sending a hitman trying to kill him. This would kick off a saga known as the Assassination Incident, which Cyraxx still talks about to this day. Despite claiming that the bullet was still lodged in his matress, he consistently refused to show said bullet, coming up with a myriad of excuses to deflect questions.
- In September 2025, Cyraxx claims that he was the target of two bombing attempts with "improvised explosive devices";
- On September 6th, Sally's minivan was vandalized, causing superficial damage to the paint looking like scorch marks. Cyraxx first said that it was arson, but later revised his story by saying that it was a deliberate attempt to cause it to explode to kill him and his family[7]. Given the photo evidence shared by Cyraxx, this story is ludicrous at best, as the damage to the van is limited to the paint, and none of the supposed scorch marks are located anywhere near the gas tank. Furthermore, there is strong suspicion that Cyraxx was actually the one that damaged the van in a feeble attempt to frame the trolls and convince the Akron Police Department to go after them.
- On September 20th, Cyraxx recived a brand new Xbox in the mail for his birthday. Little did he know however that it was rigged to trip the breaker of the house, plunging the entire family in the dark. Despite the prank resulting in nothing more than a momentary power outage, Cyraxx cried that it was actually a failed bombing attempt against him[8]. This is of course complete nonsense, especially as Cyraxx seems to believe that the Xbox alone could produce a lethal explosion, without being booby-trapped with actual explosives. Later on, he stated that after he called the police, they told him to remove the Xbox "bomb" himself and place it in a box outside until they send someone to retrieve it, something no cop would ever say to anyone facing actual bomb threats.
- Cyraxx attempted to take his own life : This is completely untrue. As previously mentioned, Cyraxx has a history of using suicide-baiting to manipulate people. When Cyraxx says that he has attempted to "take his life", he may refer to the following events:
- On April 11th 2021, Cyraxx was exposed on MusicBizMarty's panel for cheating on Strawberry Sunshine (his current girlfriend at the time) with a woman called "Cindy Lu"[9] - Chance, when confronted with his infidelity, decided to leave and return holding an object to his throat in the fashion of a knife. When the situation was defused however, Cyraxx eventually admitted that it was just a sharpie, which was met with laughter. Chance would later refer to this incident as a suicide attempt despite it being nothing but a cop-out to avoid taking accountability for his lack of loyalty towards his significant other.
- On July 18th 2025, Cyraxx claimed that he once attempted to take his own life five years prior because of the trolls by overdosing on pills, and was only saved because Sally found him lying uncouncious and rushed him to the hospital. It was later discovered that he stole the story from the time Ed overdosed on painkillers[10].
- Trolls broke into Sally's bank account and stole money from it : Cyraxx has repeatedly claimed that trolls have stolen money from Sally by hacking into her bank account, which is an obvious lie. In reality, Cyraxx stole Sally's debit or credit card while she was in the hospital in 2023 to buy Fortnite skins and various digital trinkets, and likely tried to lie to Sally by saying it was trolls when she eventually found several unexpected withdrawals on her statement.
- Cyraxx and his family have called the police 113 times over a certain period : This is a half-truth. Cyraxx frequently brings this up as "evidence" that the Akron Police Department is being negligent by leaving him and his family to fend for themselves. While the APD had indeed been called 113 times, this number represents all of the calls about 339 Lloyd Street, including actual emergencies and calls made by trolls or concerned onlookers.
- Friends from all over the world: Cyraxx has a habit of mentioning "very good friends of his" that are never named, and most likely don't even exist. It's only done so he can appear more sociable and to convince himself that everyone on the internet doesn't despise him, and most of his "friends" aren't actually buddy trolls. Zak Hussein is another infamous example of Chance pretending to be friends with people who don't even know him.
- Cyraxx is an army brat : This is not true, at least in the way Cyraxx presents it. Cyraxx claims his status as an "army brat" from his former stepfather, Gordon Wilkins, who had a career in the army. However, Gordon was only in Chance's life for four years, between the ages of 4 and 8 years old, and was self-admitedly largely uninvested in raising Chance. Furthermore, Cyraxx often brags that his "military background" taught him the use of firearms and combat, which is evidently a lie. The only gun Cyraxx manned in his life was a small-caliber hunting rifle, which he used to dry-fire at the camera hoping to intimidate the trolls. After this, Sally confiscated the rifle, and it was never seen again.
