Lying
Lying is currently under construction! This article will be unpolished, and/or missing information. |
There are two guarantees whenever Chance opens his mouth: a lie or a projection. For this article we'll focus more on the former.
If you've watched almost any piece of media that Chance is featured in, there's a very good likelihood that he'd have lied in it, whether it’d be to save face, or because it's the most convenient for him to make.
Sometimes it's difficult to ascertain whenever Chance is lying or is merely being his delusional self that we've all grown to hate. There's also an issue as to whether he repeats his lies because he genuinely believes them, because he wants the audience to believe them, or because he wants himself to believe them, as it's often said; "It's not a lie if you believe it." therefore—it's very possible that he would be repeating these falsehoods just to break through his own psychological barrier and believe the lie through repetition.
Origins
It's unclear when Chance's habit of lying began, or when it started to increase more and more past the point of no return, while there are some traits that have remained consistent throughout his life (like his slow-learning), the same can't be said about his lying habits. He most likely picked up his habits of lying from Sally, in much the same way he picked up on her methods of ignoring problems (that being 'if you ignore the problem, it goes away'). Another possible reason is Sally unintentionally making him think that his lies worked by just believing whatever he says.
As was stated before, Chance's delusions are often so strong that it's hard to tell when he's lying maliciously or if he genuinely believes what he's saying. This could just be another coping mechanism he learned as a child, that if you just tell yourself that something else happened for long enough, it'll become reality in your head, regardless of any contradicting evidence. One reason for this is Chance perpetually going out of his way to avoid the trolls confronting his version of events, as it could be construed as him not wanting them to shatter whatever delusion he's concocted in his head about what occurred.
Methodology
Chance is a pathological liar through and through, and there's nothing he wouldn't lie about if he thought it was in his best interest to do so. His lies range from his childhood (such as claiming to be raised by bikers and gangsters), all the way to raping a blind kid in high school. Thankfully however, due to his low intelligence, it's very easy to figure out when he's lying or not. The most considerable factor is context—For example; If he wants to gain the upper hand in a conversation, he will almost always dish out empty threats. Usually followed by "That's not a threat, that's PROMISE!" and other Chance-isms
Chance is a manipulator, so lying is not only second nature to him but also a guarantee during any conversation he has. If a person's story remains relatively consistent, it's a sign that they're telling the truth. Chance will change or even invent new details to fit whatever story he's trying to tell. When he was caught sending nude pictures to who he thought were minors, he was adamant that it was illegal entrapment, before soon enough, stating that was because he was hacked, to then saying that the person said they were 18 years old in the messages, before finally settling on "it was all Photoshop & AI".
Another obvious sign of Chance's deception is his inability to mend stories to actually deceive anyone properly. In other words; It's clear when he's lying because he has no clue how anything works, so anyone with a modicum of life experience can see the gaping plot holes in any narrative he spins. Such as when he claimed that music artists copy other artists' songs 'all the time' without having to necessarily purchase the rights to them.[1]
Examples of Chance's Lies
- Claims that he survived an assassination attempt by Marty, and when the latter promised that if Cyraxx showed the bullet that he claimed was in his mattress, he would delete his entire channel. Cyraxx would decline, stating "I'm not gonna do what you want anymore." despite the fact it would take him only a few seconds to actually take it out.
- Claims that he was friends with the original Green Power Ranger: Jason David Frank
- Claims that he won the fight between him and Marty
- Claims that he was friends with Sublime Bassist: Eric Wilson
- Claims that he knew Tupac Shakurs mother and was part of their record label
- Claims that he was removed from his high school for his own safety after the Blind Billy Incident
- Claims that he was raised by the Military/Bikers
- Claims that Masshole said she was 18 when in fact this was proven false and that Cyraxx acknowledged her being 14
- Claims that he was close friends with Zak Hussein: a man who was gunned down while working at a pizza shop.
