Ruple Marx Smith (also known as Oengus Ravenwood) is the biological father of Cyraxx and ex-husband of Connie Lobdell, whom he separated with after his conviction for raping a girl on a bike path in 1994.[1] Connie and Ruple had 2 children together, with Cyraxx being the second. Both of them were taken away by the state of Alaska, Cyraxx having been taken immediately after birth. Due to Cyraxx being adopted by Ruple's own mother, he was sometimes refering to Ruple as his "brother".
Overview
Not much is known about Ruple's life, but it is known that when he married Connie, it was, as according to Cyraxx's stepfather, in a very questionably consentual way as Connie was cognitively impaired and was drastically less functional than Ruple to a point where it made the relationship very questionable.[2]
Bike Path Incident
In 1994, Ruple blindfolded a 14 year old girl and dragged her off the bike path she was riding on to rape her. After the crime was reported and the victim gave her testimony, a police sketch of the assaillant was publicly released. Upon catching wind of this, Ruple attempted to get a step ahead and contacted the authorities himself to inform them that he was NOT the person in the sketch, and that the spot-on ressemblance was mere coincidence. Unsurprisingly, Ruple was immediately considered a suspect and arrested. Not only did the sketch resemble him, but the bike tire treads he left at the scene perfectly matched the tires of his bike. Clearly, Cyraxx's poor intellect was generational. After being convicted, the authorities deemed Connie mentally unfit to take care of 3-year-old Chance by herself, leading to his adoption by Sally. Cyraxx did not know that Ruple was his biological father until he was around 10 years old.
Smith v. State
In 2008, Ruple appealed his sentence by claiming the state trooper that put him in custody did not read to him his Miranda Warning before questioning him. Finding that the error was not harmless, as he was not informed that he had the right to withhold any incriminating statements, the court of appeals overturned his conviction[3].
The State filed for the case to be reviewed by the Alaska Supreme Court, which reached the conclusion that Ruple was not in custody when he made his incriminating statements, and that therefore the trooper's error had no impact on the case's outcome. Ruple’s conviction was then reinstated. In response, Ruple tried to accuse his lawyer of ineffective assistance for failing to file a cross-petition about the photo lineup used to identify Ruple being too suggestive. This plan did not work, as Ruple could not prove that his attorney’s decisions were the result of incompetence, and the Supreme Court’s ruling was upheld.
Exposed again
In 2021, members of the Cyraxx community discovered a Pinterest account belonging to Ruple, featuring photos of boys dressed in feminine clothing accompanied by sinister comments. This resulted in people calling the car detailing business where Ruple was working at and getting him fired.[4]
In the wake of this sordid discovery, MusicBizMarty hosted a livestream on March 24th 2021, where he and Schmeckle Cat interviewed and probed Ruple for an explanation.
Highlights
- After purging his sentence, Ruple had a relationship with a woman named Scarlet. They broke up after Ruple's decision to transition, leaving him unable to give her children.
- Ruple repeatedly denies using those images for sexual gratification, instead claiming that he created this account at the behest of a fellow transgender colleague, a so-called Austin, who after being harassed wanted to raise awareness for "transgender youth". When questioned on the disturbing descriptions accompanying the pictures (such as : "Feminized soccer boys are easy to convince"), he feigns ignorance saying that those comments had been left by other creeps before he saved those pictures on his account. Unsurprisingly, nobody on panel is convinced by this contrived story. There is also conveniently no trace of this awareness "campaign" left, with Ruple claiming that the reason why the Pinterest account was still up was due to him losing the password.
- Ruple gets very defensive when asked for his opinion on the Blind Billy situation, insisting that he was now clean and had no issues through his parole despite the question not being about him.
- Ruple insists that what he has done to that girl is in the past and that he has "paid" for his mistakes, completely disregarding the fact that the reason he was fired was due to him being exposed for still engaging in the behaviors that got him convicted in the first place. This excuse is eerily reminiscent of how Cyraxx handles getting caught engaging inappropriately with minors, insisting that it is in the "past" and brushing off recent evidence.
- Ruple says that he would not be able to handle Chance and cannot stand him. He even goes as far as to say that his biggest fear about Sally's death would be having to take care of Cyraxx.
- Ruple staunchly denies being a pedophile, saying that he had no idea that the victim was 14 until the trial. He also makes an extremely off-putting comment about the size of the victim's breasts as "proof" that she could have been reasonably mistaken for an adult woman. Schmeckle Cat highlights how nonchalant he is talking about raping, and how he seems more offended at being called a pedophile rather than being remorseful for his actions.
- Ruple was largely raised by his father, as Sally divorced him when he was five years old.
Interactions with Cyraxx
To put it plainly, Ruple doesn't give a shit about Cyraxx and the feeling is mutual on Cyraxx's side (unless it's complaining about the trolls costing Ruple his job).
