Hype House Arc

The Hype House Arc (also referred to as the Hype House Saga and mistaken as the First Housing Arc) was a pivotal arc and the final chapter of the Classic Era in the Daniel Larson story. During this arc, he was placed in a group home with his most notable case manager, Jonas, who Daniel despised due to perceived "abuse," his wife Miranda, and a housemate named Gavin. Daniel moved into this home on approximately July 10, 2021, occupying the pink room which he destroyed the following month. Despite this, he remained in the house until he eventually fled it on December 1. He then moved into an assisted living apartment before getting kicked out on January 9, 2022, marking the beginning of the Homeless Era.

The house was in a constant state of chaos, which amplified Daniel's paranoia and anxiety were high during his time there. In the first two months, he trashed the pink room and frequently fought with Jonas. At one point, he believed that he was "poisoned" after his macaroni and cheese had honey mustard. Additionally, in the last two weeks of the arc, Gavin became notorious for having frequent meltdowns, which sometimes prompted Daniel to act out in response.

Background

The earliest events of the Hype House Arc took place in the Pink Room, where Daniel lived until September. During this time, he filmed bizarre and sexually suggestive videos, including the toothbrush and pencil incidents. He also engaged in destructive behavior, punching, kicking, and slamming his head into the room’s walls, resulting in significant damage. Despite this, Daniel remained in the room for another month until Gavin moved into the house.

Etymology

The term "Hype House" is derived from the TikTok Hype House, wherein a large group of famous TikTokers lived in a giant mansion in 2020. Ironically, despite this implying that the Hype House had many members, it was just Daniel and Gavin, as well as Jonas and his wife.

Jonas

Jonas, sometimes referred to as Jonaz or Jonez, served as the caretaker during this arc and appeared in many TikTok videos, especially in the first few months. Daniel seemed to hold a grudge against him, accusing Jonas of "abuse" and frequently instigating altercations. Daniel also accused him of being "racist" towards him. It was clear that, although Jonas did not kick him out, he did not want to have Daniel in the house.

Gavin

Gavin was Daniel's housemate in the "Hype House," having moved in September 2021, and appeared frequently in Daniel's videos during this time. He was known for having meltdowns, many of which Daniel recorded and posted on TikTok. Daniel often blamed broken items and holes in the walls—many of which he had caused—on Gavin's meltdowns. Fans also noted that Gavin bore a resemblance to the character Hal Stewart from Megamind.

Significant Events

August 14th Incident

On August 14, 2021, Daniel had a meltdown after Jonas attempted to take his phone. During this incident, Daniel screamed at Jonas, accusing him of "assaulting" him, although no such assault was captured on video.

Daniel: *crying, high pitched-voice * Why did you try to hit me? Jonas: *comes closer to Daniel and puts a hand up* Don't take a video. Daniel: *cowering* NO! WOAH!!! GET OFF ME! GET OFF ME!!! IF YOU TRY TO HIT ME ONE MORE TIME BITCH!!! *Jonas looks in disbelief*I have it all on recording! You tried to hit me, I'm on the floor! I'm doing nothing to you! I'm doing nothing to you, you tried to hit me! *sobs * Jonas: What? Daniel, unintelligible in the same place! Daniel: *sobs * I just did self-defense! I'm on the floor! I didn't do anything, I just did self-defense! I even have it- I even have it on film, with you to- like I don't even know anymore, and I'm afraid of you! Like I didn't do anything to you, you just tried to grab me! Like, why did you raise your fist? I was just trying to get outside! *Miranda speaks indistinctly as Jonas looks exhausted * Like why did you try to grab me? Why did you try to hit me? Miranda: He's hitting himself. Daniel: Call Ian! Tell Ian to call me. *sobs * Tell Ian to call me… *starts hitting himself * Jonas: Have a seat, don't hit yourself! Daniel: Well, why did you try to grab me?! *sobs * Why did you try to grab meeee!? Miranda: I don't know who he's talking to on the phone… Daniel: *tries to hit Jonas * Why did you try to grab me- STOP!!! STOP!!! Jonas: Stop hitting yourself! Daniel: Stop coming near me!! At this point, if you grab me, if you do anything to me because I'm doing nothing. All I'm doing is sitting here, I will attack you for self-defense, because that's legal. *sobs * Like, I'm doing nothing to you. *gets up and walks around Jonas * Can you call Ian? Miranda: *gives numbers to 911 * Daniel: *sobs * Call Ian.

Mac N Cheese Incident

On November 18, 2021, Daniel was given Mac 'N Cheese, when he commented that it tasted like "cow piss" and claimed he was being poisoned, assuming the dish contained jalapenos.

Bing Bong Stream

On November 28, 2021, Daniel went live on TikTok, acting very bizarre. He began "praising" Jonas, telling his viewers to worship him. At one point, Daniel danced around his room while repeatedly chanting "bing bong." The ritual was briefly interrupted when he vomited off-screen, only to return and resume his chant. He continued to "worship" Jonas, calling him the chosen one and the king, and even made inappropriate comments, such as asking Jonas to "come inside him." Daniel also made strange noises and did jumping jacks during the live stream.

Hot Phone Incident

On November 29, 2021, Daniel went live on TikTok in the morning, complaining about his phone overheating. As the stream progressed, he became increasingly upset, eventually smashing a lamp and having a meltdown towards the end of the stream.

November 29th Incident

On November 29, 2021, hours after the Hot Phone Incident occurred, Daniel went live on TikTok outside the house, where a chaotic situation unfolded. Gavin had a meltdown after he got the police called on him by Jonas, because Gavin supposedly slapped him. Loud noises, possibly from Gavin hitting walls or breaking objects, could be heard in the background. During the outburst, Gavin repeatedly demanded Jonas to call his mother, and at one point, he shouted her phone number, which was audible on the stream and had around 7,000 viewers at that time. Gavin became shocked when the police arrived at the house.

Fleeing

Daniel fled the Hype House on December 1, and moved into an assisted living apartment. After a month, he was evicted and became homeless.
