The Hype House Arc (also referred to as the Hype House Saga and mistaken as the First Housing Arc) was a pivotal arc and the final chapter of the Classic Era in the Daniel Larson story. During this arc, he was placed in a group home with his most notable care provider, Jonas, who Daniel despised due to perceived "abuse," his wife Miranda, and a housemate named Gavin. Daniel moved into this home on approximately July 7, 2021, occupying the pink room which he destroyed the following month. Despite this, he remained in the house until he eventually fled it on December 1, 2021. He then moved into an assisted living apartment before getting kicked out on January 9, 2022, marking the beginning of the Homeless Era.
The house was in a constant state of chaos, which amplified Daniel's paranoia and anxiety were high during his time there. In the first two months, he trashed the pink room and frequently fought with Jonas. At one point, he believed that he was "poisoned" after his macaroni and cheese had honey mustard. Additionally, in the last two weeks of the arc, Gavin became notorious for having frequent meltdowns, which sometimes prompted Daniel to act out in response. [1]
Background
Before moving into the Hype House, Daniel had been going through various housing arrangements, frequently being relocated or evicted due to his behavior—such as punching holes in walls. [2] On July 6, 2021, Daniell was evicted from his then-current housing with JP, after a meltdown where he threatened to stab JP. The following day, Daniel moved into Jonas' house. [3] Coincidentally, Daniel stopped wearing the gaming headset that he wore for months.
Etymology
The term "Hype House" is derived from the TikTok Hype House, wherein a large group of famous TikTok users lived in a giant mansion in 2020.[4] Ironically, despite this implying that the Hype House had many members, it was just Daniel and Gavin, as well as their care providers, Jonas and Miranda.
Time In Jonas' House
The earliest events of the Hype House Arc took place in the "Pink Room," where Daniel lived until September 2021. Shortly after moving in, he began posting bizarre and sexually suggestive videos, most infamously the toothbrush, bottle, and pencil incidents. Daniel also engaged in frequent destructive behavior, including punching, kicking, and slamming his head into the walls, causing extensive damage to the room. During this time, tensions with housemate Jonas escalated. He frequently fought with Jonas, recording and posting about it on TikTok. One altercation between them led to Daniel being hospitalized. He also developed a brief but intense obsession with ventriloquist Darci Lynne Farmer. [5] The damage to the room was never repaired, and within a month, it had been completely torn apart. Daniel filmed the aftermath—drywall scattered across the floor—while crying. [6] However, he managed to remain in the room for another month.
In September, Daniel moved out of the Pink Room, and a new client named Gavin moved into the house. Gavin quickly became known as "Hal Stewart" in TikTok comments due to his appearance, and Daniel made many strange videos with him weeks after moving in. He also became known for his frequent meltdowns, many of which were recorded and livestreamed by Daniel. By November, the house had descended into a state of constant chaos, with both Gavin’s meltdowns and Daniel’s own growing paranoia and meltdowns contributing to the instability. Despite this, Daniel and Gavin still sometimes had humorous livestreams. Daniel's anxiety was so bad that at one point, he claimed that Jonas had thrown a banana at him and put jalapeños in his mac n cheese, "poisoning" him. During this period, Daniel and his case manager arranged for him to transition into an assisted-living apartment. In the days leading up to moving out, the house was becoming even more chaotic. Daniel once locked Jonas and Gavin out of the house for "proof" for his case manager, and Daniel made holes in the walls throughout the house, blaming them on Gavin. Gavin destroyed his phone, which led him to become more unstable, and the police were called on him a few times. Daniel left the house on December 1, 2021 and moved into the apartment he was waiting for.

August 14th Incident

On August 14, 2021, Daniel had a meltdown after Jonas attempted to take his phone. During this incident, Daniel screamed at Jonas, accusing him of "assaulting" him, although no such assault was captured on video. [7]

Miranda: I don't know who he's talking to on the phone… Daniel: *tries to hit Jonas * Why did you try to grab me- STOP!!! STOP!!! Jonas: Stop hitting yourself! Daniel: Stop coming near me!! At this point, if you grab me, if you do anything to me because I'm doing nothing. All I'm doing is sitting here, I will attack you for self-defense, because that's legal. *sobs * Like, I'm doing nothing to you. *gets up and walks around Jonas * Can you call Ian? Mac N Cheese Incident

On November 18, 2021, Daniel was given Mac 'N Cheese, when he commented that it tasted like "cow piss" and claimed he was being poisoned, assuming the dish contained jalapenos.
Bing Bong Stream

On November 28, 2021, Daniel went live on TikTok, acting very bizarre. He began "praising" Jonas, telling his viewers to worship him. At one point, Daniel danced around his room while repeatedly chanting "bing bong." The ritual was briefly interrupted when he vomited off-screen, only to return and resume his chant. He continued to "worship" Jonas, calling him the chosen one and the king, and even made inappropriate comments, such as asking Jonas to "come inside him." Daniel also made strange noises and did jumping jacks during the live stream.

Hot Phone Incident
On November 29, 2021, Daniel went live on TikTok in the morning, complaining about his phone overheating. As the stream progressed, his phone number was leaked, which led to multiple people calling him. Daniel's phone became very hot, and he became increasingly upset, eventually smashing a lamp and having a meltdown towards the end of the stream.
November 29th Incident
On November 29, 2021, hours after the Hot Phone Incident occurred, Daniel went live on TikTok outside the house, when a chaotic situation occurred inside the house. Jonas called the police on Gavin because he supposedly slapped him. Gavin had already broke his phone days prior to this incident, which led to a meltdown. Loud noises, possibly from Gavin hitting walls or breaking objects, could be heard in the background. During the outburst, Gavin repeatedly demanded Jonas to call his mother, and at one point, he shouted her phone number, which was audible on the stream and had around 7,000 viewers at that time. Gavin became shocked when the police arrived at the house. [8]
Fleeing
Daniel fled the Hype House on December 1, and moved into an assisted living apartment. [9] He was working with his case manager to work out this situation as Daniel could not tolerate Gavin's meltdowns, Jonas' "abuse" and the house in general. After a month of living in the apartment, he was evicted and became homeless.
